Scholarship Application

The applicant must be:

  • Male

  • Of Italian descent

  • In grade 12

  • Have a minimum 75% overall average

  • Registered at a post-secondary institution for September 2026

  • A proof of enrolment letter will be required, and tuition payment will be made to the post-secondary institution by October 1, 2026

  • Has demonstrated excellence in athletics, academics, school and community leadership.

  • Be an exemplary citizen

  • Must be able to attend the celebratory function on May 27th,2026.

 

Scoring will be attributed as follows:

 

  • 45% allotted to athletic ability and performance

  • 30% allotted to scholastic achievement - The nominee's Grade 12 marks (first term final marks, as well as second term midterm marks) will be used as the criteria for this award. In the event of a tie, grade 11 and 10 marks will be used

  • 15% allotted to citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship and community involvement

  • 10% allotted to personal response

Attachment One:

High school transcripts from: https://public.education.alberta.ca/PASI/mypass/welcome  Any additional grades not found on myPass transcript, must be certified by your counsellor.

 

Attachment Two:

Reference letter from your athletic coach

Attachment Three:

Reference letter from a teacher or school staff member (e.g. school counsellor, administrator, homeroom teacher, etc.)

Attachment Four:

Written response - detailed description of athletic achievements, scholastic achievements, school involvement, community involvement and Italian heritage.

Minimum one paragraph per the four headings below

Provide contact information (name and phone number or email) for a coach, teacher sponsor or leader for each activity.

 

  • Athletic Ability and Performance:

    • List your athletic involvements and personal athletic achievements/awards within your school, as well as outside of school.

    • Examples such as: senior rugby team, grade 10, 11, captain of senior football team, grade 12, MVP at the Sunnyside basketball tournament, ten week season, 8 hours per week.

  • Scholastic Achievement:

    • List your scholastic achievements, academic acknowledgments and awards you have or will receive.

    • Examples of scholastic achievements include: honor roll. 

  • School & Community Involvement:

    • List your school and community involvement (clubs, organizations and activities) including the capacity in which you were involved.

    • Example 1: Volunteer Club, grade 12, met once a week and assisted in the hamper program, 10 hours total for the hamper program.

    • Example 2: Volunteered at the Bowness Seniors home, arts and crafts with the residence, once a week for 10 weeks.

  • Italian Heritage and influences:

    • Who/What inspired you to become involved in athletics and what has led you to continue on this journey to the present time?

    • Reflect on your Italian Heritage and how it influences you.

 

Deadline to submit is midnight, April 27th , 2026 – no exceptions

Only successful candidates will be notified.

 

APPLICATIONS THAT ARE INCOMPLETE OR DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
